A Little Coaxing

That's usually what I need to get myself to try something new, even if the something new was my idea. About a month ago I bought a light box kit. Basically this entailed a portable light box, a pair of lights and a tripod. The plan was to start using this set-up to take product pictures for my store. I brought the box into my studio with the intention to start using it right away. And that's pretty much as far as it went. Until today. I'm going to be taking some of the pictures for my book and it dawned on me that maybe I should learn how to use the light box. All I can say is, "What took me so long?"

This thing is amazing. The colors are so true and I didn't even set up in an especially dark room.

I've been making some new items for a shop update next week and I'm so glad that I finally decided that the time had come to try out the light box.

Isn't it cool? I think this is the same lightbox kit I got for Christmas this year! I had been using a cardboard box with the sides cut out and tissue paper over it - cheap and effective but it doesn't last long.

Hope you have fun - the pictures look great!

Please post the info re: your light box kit. I'm sure it would be of interest to many of us who struggle to get that *true color*.

Wonderful. I saw a light box kit in a camera store, but yours must be different. Maybe bigger. Can you post the info? Please!

I can only repeat what others have said - gorgeous colours and great photos. I also use a cardboard box with tracing paper sides which is a bit of a pain.

They look so great! Good job. I have a hard time trying new things, too. It's not that I'm against it; it's just that my day is too full to fit in learning a new skill. But I'm always glad when I do!

WOW! I'm not a part of the quilting world. I am so impressed and curious about all of the fabric designers out there. Years ago, I dabbled in dying, a little quilting, drawings, painting, knitting, crocheting and lots of sewing and some design work with home decor; doll-making and sold in a local shop. Your fabric design just has me spellbound - it's the same style as some cards I experimented with last year - just dye on very light paper. But your patterns, blends of color and design are absolutely knock-out, unique and oh, so tasteful! FUN! I wish I could come and mentor under you. I used to work with a designer in Florida, where we died the t-shirts and did all sorts of original designs atop the die. I have designed drawings of fabrics that I wanted to make bedding with for myself. Is it possible to do such a thing without schooling? I watched your entire flicker show. AMAZING! Is all the fabric your own?
