What does it mean...

when you find a package on your porch last night, realize it's from your publisher, but decide you're going to wait until the next day to open it, so you can take pictures of the contents as they emerge from the box?
And what does it mean when you're taking pictures and then notice the cool way the light is playing on the surface of the box and quilt and floor,
so you take one picture
 and then another
and then some more pictures of what is essentially the reflection of the slats of your dining room chairs? I have even more pictures, but people, even I have some kind of filter.

And what does it mean when the point of this post was not to show off pictures of sunlight or chair slats or even quilts, but to giveaway a copy of this year's Quilt Scene magazine and I'm this far in and only now getting to it?
Answers. I'm going to need them. And your comments. You're going to want to leave them because this is a magazine worth owning. You know who has patterns in this magazine? How about Elizabeth Hartman.
and Ashley Newcomb,
 and Denyse Schmidt.

In all honesty, when I held the magazine, I actually thought it was heavy. There are loads of wonderful projects, so leave a comment. I'll pick a winner on Sunday night and announce him/her on Monday.
Good luck and have a fabulous weekend!

I hadn't actually heard of this magazine until last week. It could possibly be because I live in Canada and quilt magazines (good ones, anyways) are almost non-existent here. It looks amazing and I would be only too happy to win it!

Thanks for the opportunity to win! Love your pics - I once took dozens of pics of some jars of tomatoes I had canned just because the light around them was so lovely!

I completely understand the photos of lights through slats. I was lying on the sofa one day and the three sets of mini blinds in the living room were turned in alternating directions. From a low angle the light coming through them made an interesting pattern, and I duplicated it in EQ7 for a future project! Thanks for the opportunity to win this magazine - it looks amazing!

Okay. Honestly, it means you've lost it! As we all have. I'd rather be an artist than any thing else. We're all a little "nuts". Every mundane event, or casual glance, or ritual daily drive becomes so much more. Sometimes too much more. Isn't it wonderful? Our brains never shut down!!! For better or worse?!

Marijke van Swaaij said...

It catches us by surprise when the simple things make us happy. But really, beautiful light, color and design-can't get much better then that in a picture or a magazine. I would feel so fortunate to be the owner and translator(make my own versions of the designs) of this magazine.

Treasure all the fabric I order from you and have several projects in mind for the future. I have the best pillows on my couch with your fabric and design idea. Thanks for all your inspiration.

Have you picked a winner yet?! I happened upon this magazine in Barnes & Noble today and spent half an hour pouring over it (your quilt in particular!) while my husband looked around. As for the quilt; orange and gray happen to be two of my favorite colors and the hexagonal quilt is the most divine thing I've seen in ages!
