And what does it mean when you're taking pictures and then notice the cool way the light is playing on the surface of the box and quilt and floor,
so you take one picture
and then another
and then some more pictures of what is essentially the reflection of the slats of your dining room chairs? I have even more pictures, but people, even I have some kind of filter.
And what does it mean when the point of this post was not to show off pictures of sunlight or chair slats or even quilts, but to giveaway a copy of this year's Quilt Scene magazine and I'm this far in and only now getting to it?
Answers. I'm going to need them. And your comments. You're going to want to leave them because this is a magazine worth owning. You know who has patterns in this magazine? How about Elizabeth Hartman.
and Ashley Newcomb,
and Denyse Schmidt.
In all honesty, when I held the magazine, I actually thought it was heavy. There are loads of wonderful projects, so leave a comment. I'll pick a winner on Sunday night and announce him/her on Monday.
Good luck and have a fabulous weekend!

I'd love to win a copy of the magazine. Haven't seen it in person, just on the web.
Your post made me laugh. The orange really is beautiful in the morning light. Looks like another great magazine!
Orange, it certain is the featured color this season.!
This magazine looks to be just one inspiration after another.
Hugs,
Gerry
Pick me! Pick me! And if you can send along those gorgeous strips of light so much the better.

I'd love to win a copy! It looks awesome - so does your quilt. Thanks.
I hadn't actually heard of this magazine until last week. It could possibly be because I live in Canada and quilt magazines (good ones, anyways) are almost non-existent here. It looks amazing and I would be only too happy to win it!
it means it's a beautiful sunny day here in central texas after the morning rain! :)
It means... it means... that you have art in your soul!
Or that you have ADD.

Okay, if I don't win, I'm buying a copy! I would buy it for your design alone - but when you sweeten the deal by tossing out the names of Elizabeth Hartman and Denyse Schmidt... too good to pass up!

Oooo pick me pick me!! These mags are so difficult to source where I am (nearly outback Australia) so this may be the easiest way I can have one come home to me!

Looking forward to delving into that magazine. I've seen it in a few places.
It probably means that like most bloggers eventually do, you have developed a little bit more than a side interest in photography.
What a great post... I love the photos with the light! Thanks for the opportunity to have this magazine.
Looks great - and that's some lovely sunlight you've got there!
Great magazine -- love the light in the photos too!
Hmm... Does it mean that you're enjoying your side job as a professional blogger, anticipating ways to share the joy of discovery and still taking a moment to enjoy beauty? I think yes.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Ohhhh it looks great!!! Thanks for the chance!
I'd love to win a copy. The projects look great. (From a fellow Austinite.)
I think waiting to photograph your package just shows what a great eye you have - you knew you could get a great photo and you sure did!!! That magazine looks amazing!
I want it!
Thanks for the opportunity to win! Love your pics - I once took dozens of pics of some jars of tomatoes I had canned just because the light around them was so lovely!
I completely understand the photos of lights through slats. I was lying on the sofa one day and the three sets of mini blinds in the living room were turned in alternating directions. From a low angle the light coming through them made an interesting pattern, and I duplicated it in EQ7 for a future project! Thanks for the opportunity to win this magazine - it looks amazing!
I'll be happy to take a chance!
What a beautiful pic with the light shining through. Magazine looks stuffed full of inspiration
I'd love to win a copy of this magazine - publications like this never seem to find their way to the UK!!
Gill
Ohhhhh....Pick me, pick me!! I'd love to have this magazine!!
It means that you're a great blogger, and, thus, are always thinking of creative photos for your blog! And it also means that as part of your innate artistic process, you see patterns in everything.
I love the photos and the gradual opening of the box like a Christmas present was so delightful. I'd love to win.
It might mean you have a new quilt you are thinking off with bleached zebra stripes all over it?? Great pictures and thanks for the chance to win!
I love the photos! I also get distracted by stuff like that. Thanks for the giveaway!
There is something about sunbeams in the fall that just does not compare to any other season!

I want this magazine so badly! And you should see all the pictures I have of cool lighting. :) I did my final architecture project on lighting!
I'd love to win looks like some great projects to try.
Okay. Honestly, it means you've lost it! As we all have. I'd rather be an artist than any thing else. We're all a little "nuts". Every mundane event, or casual glance, or ritual daily drive becomes so much more. Sometimes too much more. Isn't it wonderful? Our brains never shut down!!! For better or worse?!
That must be a really wonderfull magazine, with all my quilting stars in it. I would love to win a copy. Lovely photographs!
OH my, I'd love to be able to make some of the items shown. Thanks!
It catches us by surprise when the simple things make us happy. But really, beautiful light, color and design-can't get much better then that in a picture or a magazine. I would feel so fortunate to be the owner and translator(make my own versions of the designs) of this magazine.
Treasure all the fabric I order from you and have several projects in mind for the future. I have the best pillows on my couch with your fabric and design idea. Thanks for all your inspiration.
Hillary
Oh-that magazine looks amazing. I would love to win a copy. Thank you for the opportunity.
Wow, the reflections on the quilt are really cool. I think it means you have an eye that finds inspiration everywhere you look! I'd love to win the magazine; I haven't seen this issue yet. Thanks for the eye candy!!

This looks like a wonderful magazine! And congrats on the cover!
I often wait for morning to take pictures.. I love the quilt :) And that magazine sure looks awesome! I'd LOVE to win it!
Have you picked a winner yet?! I happened upon this magazine in Barnes & Noble today and spent half an hour pouring over it (your quilt in particular!) while my husband looked around. I unfortunately couldn't afford to buy it so would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win a free copy. As for the quilt; orange and gray happen to be two of my favorite colors and the hexagonal quilt is the most divine thing I've seen in ages!
I can't get enough of the quilt you designed for this magazine! Loosk like a great issue.
And I was scrolling through the pics thinking that they were totally cool and then.. wam! a giveaway!! even better!!!! :)))
oh i'd love a copy!!! haven't seen it in the stores!
Would love to see more of Denyse Schmidt as I find myself now making cards using scraps. I saw her on She's Crafty from HGTV Canada. It was here in the USA Ion network.
Haha, I love how it looks like the quilt is crawling out of the box itself.
I could definitely handle that magazine!
